Obituary for Rosa Hicks Lawson

On Sunday, January 28, 2024, the Lord called our beloved Rosa May Hicks Lawson home, while at Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, VA. Rosa was born in Nottoway County, VA on May 11, 1962 to Landus Sr. and Daisy Mae Stewart Hicks.

Rosa attended Nottoway County Public Schools. She was employed at many places, to include being a cook at Heritage Hall Nursing Home and Brandymills Nursing Home, and lastly was a Nursing Aide that worked faithfully with elderly people.

One thing about Rosa, she always kept you laughing or would tell you about yourself (LOL). Rosa was one of the top cursing persons around Virginia (LOL), but that was her love language. At one time Rosa was one of the top Avon Salesperson in her region.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Landus Sr. and Daisy; and two sibling, Landus Hicks Jr. and Keith Hicks.

Rosa will be greatly missed. She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her devoted loving husband of twenty-eight years, Jimmie Lawson; two sons, Terry Lawson (Angela) of Chesterfield, VA and Nelson Hicks of Blackstone, VA; two daughters, LaTasha Lawson and Jimae Lawson of Blackstone, VA; six grandkids, Naysha Dowtin, Teri Lawson, SaNiya Lawson, Kendal Lawson, Noah Lawson and Aaliyah Branch; one fur baby and three grand fur babies, MaeMae, Lily, Mr. Nichols and Duce; two brothers, James Stewart and Wendell Hicks; two sisters, Charlotte (Thomas) and Valerie Douglas(Walter) all of Blackstone, VA; one big sister/cousin, Willie May Harper-Wright; five brothers-n-law; six sisters-in-law; two best friends, Gwendolyn (Net) Patterson and Gayla Queen, whom was also a patient; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing Friday, February 2, 2024 from 12 to 7PM.

Funeral Service Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1:00PM at Shiloh Baptist Church, 328 S. Brown St., Blackstone.

Interment Pentecost COCIC Cemetery, Victoria.
