Obituary for Kenyada A. Bassfield

Kenyada Andrea Bassfield, the daughter of Gerline Bassfield and Tyrone Hill Sr., departed her life on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Kenyada is preceded in death by her mother Gerline Bassfield, nephew, Sa-Juan Nicholson, close friends, Kyasia Hill and James Crayton, and her son Khyson Kentrel Coleman.

Kenyada dedicated her life to Christ at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church, in Blackstone, VA participated in the youth choir and faithfully attended Sunday school and church services.

Kenyada attended Nottoway High School, graduating in the Class of 2021. Kenyada was employed at Walmart in Blackstone, VA, where she was a dedicated employee until she began employment at Three Rivers Treatment Center in Kenbridge, VA as a skills coach. Kenyada was a quiet, mannerable young woman with a smile that lit up the room. She will be immensely missed by her family and friends.

Kenyada leaves to cherish her memories: her father, Tyrone Hill Sr., her siblings, Shaskyra (Reco), LaStarra (Lionell), TaKarra (Kevin), KaTyra, Lateshia (Chris), Teirria, Tyrone Jr., Tyrell, and Tyrone “Oodie”, Devonta, Delvine, and Demond; her grandmother Ethelle (David) and her devoted grandfather, Ernest Watson; her godmother Josette Barley; her godchildren Hakeem Nahir Fields and Bria Armoni Smit; and a host of other relatives and friends, including her close friends, Akeira, Chernizah, Khaniyah, and Indiah, and a devoted nephew Lay’Quan Hill.

Khyson Kentrel Coleman, an anxiously awaited little one, departed this life along with his mother, Kenyada Bassfield on January 13, 2024. Khyson is preceded in death by his mother Kenyada Bassfield, his grandmother Gerline Bassfield, his great uncle, Keith Hicks Jr., his great grandfather, Keith Hicks Sr., and his cousin, Sa-Juan Nicholson.

Khyson’s arrival was greatly anticipated by his mother, father and other family members, and will be immensely missed.

Khyson will be forever cherished and remembered by his family: his father, Keon Coleman, his grandparents, Tyrone Hill Sr. , Summer Oliver and Dwayne Coleman; his great-grandparents, Ernest Watson & Brenda Hicks; a host of relatives.

Funeral Services for Kenyada and Khyson will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 11:00AM at Shiloh Baptist Church, Blackstone.  Intement Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
