Obituary for Deacon Alvin Lee

Alvin M. Lee, 92, gained his heavenly wings March 4, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.

Dad was born June 22, 1931 to the late Albert & Mabel Lee. He now joins all of his siblings, closing the chapter of Albert & Mabel’s family.

Dad accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized and joined the High Rock Baptist Church.  He remained a faithful member and served on the Deacon Board for 57 years until his health began to fail. He was also a member of the Men’s Chorus.

Dad attended school in Prince Edward County until he was drafted to serve in the Korean War. He later returned and graduated from RR Moton High School in 1954.

Dad faithfully and meritoriously completed 26 years of employment with the Department of Transportation.

Jake was an avid gardener, hunter, fisherman and cement mason. He was forthcoming with his knowledge. He never met a stranger, but was known to entertain a few.

On November 11, 1952 he was united in holy matrimony to Helen Williams-Lee. To this union eight children were born. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle and a great friend.

He was sharing, kind and had a non-judgmental soul. He was loved by many!

Engraved in our hearts to cherish his memories are: Alvin L. (Joan), Carl (Barbara), Joseph Lester, Phyllis (Jody), Michael (Rhonda), Jerry (Penny), David & Terry (Lisa). Devoted sister in-laws: Iona, Elsie & Queen; twenty (20) grandchildren, twenty-four (24) great grandchildren, four (4) great-great grandchildren; bonus daughters: Kimberly Lee, Mary Miller & Margo Johnson-Hall; devoted care givers Nancy Saunders & Kesha Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
